Built at the beach, run by Mary
Mary started her company, first as A Woman’s Touch and now as Mary’s Touch, with a single truck, a stack of pads, and one simple idea: give people a fair flat price, pack their things as if they were her own, and take the stress out of moving day. She had seen too many neighbors put on an hourly clock and blindsided by a bill nobody warned them about, so she did the opposite, one honest number up front and careful hands on every box.
To this day there is no call center and no broker taking a cut, only Mary and her own crew, hands like James and Nick, packing a Lewes historic home one morning and settling a family into a Millsboro community that afternoon.
One truck to the whole shore
None of this came off a billboard. Mary’s Touch grew because the beach families she moved kept calling her back, and sending their neighbors.
- A woman’s touchMary started with one truck and a promise: a fair flat price and packing done with real care.
- Word got aroundCustomers rebooked and sent their neighbors, and word of mouth filled the calendar faster than any ad.
- Packing became the calling cardPeople kept saying nothing arrived broken, so careful packing became the heart of the business, right into the name.
- The retirees found usFamilies downsizing into the 55-plus communities needed a gentle, patient crew, and that became some of our favorite work.
- Mary still runs itFrom Rehoboth out to Millsboro and Seaford, Mary still answers the phone and runs every job herself.
One flat price vs. the hourly meter
Most movers on the shore charge by the hour and let the meter drive your total up. Below is one move, priced the Mary’s Touch way set beside how it usually goes.
| What matters on move day | Mary’s Touch | A typical hourly mover |
|---|---|---|
| Your price | One flat price agreed before move day | Whatever the running clock adds up to |
| Who shows up | Mary’s own background-checked crew | Whoever was free that morning |
| The packing | Careful packing built right into the price | Often an extra charge by the box |
| Beach-house stairs | The third-floor beach-house carry built into the price | Sometimes an upcharge at the curb |
| Antiques and pianos | Wrapped and folded into the price | Surprise fees on move day |
| The final bill | Exactly the flat price you agreed to | Wherever the meter happens to stop |
